The 3rd edition of the IGLOW International Conference for Social Innovation was held on May 10, 2024, bringing together visionaries and change-makers under the compelling theme of “The Future of Social Innovation.” With an attendance just over fifty, the event provided an intimate yet impactful platform for learning, sharing, and inspiring social change.
A Lineup of Visionary Speakers
The conference featured an impressive roster of speakers who delved into various aspects of social innovation, each bringing unique perspectives and expertise.
Sustainability with Dr Seun Adebayo
Dr. Seun Adebayo, who currently works as Pedagogical and Digital Inclusion officer at UNHCR kicked off the event with an enlightening talk on the United Nations connected learning programs. He shared valuable sustainability insights, emphasizing the critical role of education in driving sustainable development goals. His presentation underscored the importance of integrating global learning initiatives to foster a more equitable and sustainable future.
Entrepreneurship with Engr Rice Kajila
Engr. Rice Kajila, a business coach, PhD researcher at Wuhan University of Technology and Chairman of Frenpreneurs in China followed with a dynamic session on social entrepreneurship.
He passionately discussed how to transform passion into social impact, providing actionable advice on leveraging AI technologies to accelerate innovation. His practical insights offered a roadmap for entrepreneurs eager to make a tangible difference through technological advancements.
Tech Innovation with Engr Andrew Silungwe
The third speaker, Engr. Andrew Silungwe, who currently works as product development engineer at Micro China Manufacturing, delivered his presentation while on the move.
Engr. Silungwe shared practical guidance on developing ideas into prototypes and products. His emphasis on technology-driven social innovation resonated with the theme of the conference, and encouraged participants to be actively involved in the creation of impactful solutions.
Panel Discussion
Anchored by the Host, Dr Victor Adewuyi, the seminar concluded with a vibrant panel question and answer session, where attendees had the opportunity to interact directly with the speakers. This segment fostered a collaborative atmosphere, allowing for the exchange of ideas and the cultivation of new connections among participants.
